Could a 45 min nap be normal for DD?
« on: February 21, 2006, 20:14:22 pm »
DD is a notorious 45 minute napper but when she wakes up she is bright eyed and alert - not cranky - well only a couple of times does she wake up and is cranky, to which I cuddle her for a while but she sometimes goes back to sleep but not usually.

On those occasions when she wakes after 45 minutes and is bright eyed and awake, should I just let it be and pick her up or how do I make her go back to sleep?  I have tried putting my hand on her and shhhing her, anything that would usually work  to put her to sleep when she is tired and cranky but it doesn't work - she just looks at me and all around and wants to play.

DD is 4 months by the way and I am trying to get her on a fixed 3 hr easy - feeding wise we are doing ok but the sleeping is throwing everything off in terms of feeding right after sleep - now it can happen anytime bc her sleep is only 45 min as opposed to 1.5 hrs, but she will take one big nap during the day of 1.5 to 2 hrs - just one!

Normal?  Well yes i think it is normal for all of the 45min nappers...as from 0-3 months babies work on organizing their night sleep. From 3-6 they work on organizing their day sleep.  So...If you LO is happy when she wakes and can make it to the next nap time then i would get her up give her a big kiss and get on w/ the day.

Hope that helps!
