4 month old enjoying water at night!

My 4 month old regulary wakes every 2 hours during the night and drank 9oz of formula and so was'nt eating during the day.. I thought ok i'll solve this the same way I had wiith my other 3 children and give him cooled boiled water instead and give him his first feed at 6am.. good plan except this was a week ago and now he's waking up to drink 9oz of water instead!! The point i've always assumed is they wake up and get water and decide it is'nt worth it.. so would I be right in assuming he's waking for reasons other than hunger? Attention in any form? Playing havoc with his nappy in the morning but he has lovely skin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

would you post lo's routine as perhaps his daytime sleeping/naps could be playing a part in the wakings? what does lo do when he wakes at night? how do you respond?

Could well be something to do with overtiredness etc but I also think its a very common phase to do this at around 4 months. Lots of ladies in my birth club are having similar problems. Does your lo use a dummy? Could be an addiction to that that's causing the problems too. Fun and games eh?
