More Filling?
« on: April 12, 2006, 16:54:49 pm »
Are bananas much more filling than other baby foods? It seems that the mornings that I give Marisa bananas with her breakfast that she seems sleepier later and doesn't want much of her next bottle. But she doesn't seem in any pain or discomfort.

I gave her bananas this morning for the first time in a while. I have to puree them into her peach or pear puree - she will barely even tolerate them that way but won't touch them plain. I tend to use organic jars for most foods but only fresh ripe organic bananas - so I blended about 1/4 of a banana into about 1.5-2 ounces of peach puree and added a bit of water and her oatmeal. Normally she would have about 3 ounces of peaches or pear puree without the banana - same amount of oatmeal.

Basically, I'm just wondering if it is strange that she seems so much more full and tired after bananas.

Bananas are starchy and as such will have more calories than some of the other fruits/veg so they may well make your lo feel fuller for longer.

I agree with Seona could you try just the banana with the oatmeal and not add any other fruit. Plus Oatmeal is also a filling thing to have.
