normal time to go sleep in the morning???
« on: May 17, 2006, 20:57:07 pm »
Is it common for a 5month old baby to be tired one hour after awakening in the morning?
He sleeps the whole night, mostly from 7.30pm to 7am,but then he is tried by time 8am comes.

Also not sure where to post this so going to add it in here,
My DS always has wax in his ear.Clean his ears every week, but every 2nd has wax coming out of it.
Is it common,or should I seek help?

Thanks
Andrea...

Andrea,
How is the rest of his day?  Typically babies this age can handle more awake time, but if it's all working for you and naps are good, I wouldn't change it.  I would watch for the 45 minute monster... if it arrives (at least for us) it means more awake time needed.  You can try slowly increasing by 5-10 minutes a day.
For the ear wax... I don't know.  Maybe post on the Health and medical board.

Thanks for the ear wax didn't no where to post it.
HIS days change all the time, but cause he goes to sleep around 7.30pm and sleeps to 7am I am not to concerned about the day time as he is always happy when awake and tends to go to sleep when getting tired.

Yesterday for example this was his routine.
7am bottle
8am breakfast
8.40am sleep to 10am
10.30am bottle
slept in the car as was out doing jobs 2 lots of 30min
2.30pm bottle
3-4pm sleep had to pick my little DD up from school
5.30pm bottle
7.30pm bottle and bed

He didn't have much sleep but he was happy with what he had.
Come another day he can have 2 lots of 2hrs and a 45min,it was really the morning wasn't sure if is normal as he is rubbing his eyes and starting to get cranky,so I put him to sleep.

seems like you have things working just fine!  Keep following his cues and you'll be fine.  Keep up the great work!  ;D

My LO is 9 months next week and she still gets tired an hour after being up in the morning.. so I say yes to it being normal.
