micronor and AF
« on: May 01, 2006, 16:36:13 pm »
Hi everyone
I've started micronor 2 months ago when I got my 1st period. I haven't had one since. Has anyone taking Microror(birth control) and not have periods while still bfeeding. We are not exclusively bfeeding so that is why I find that strange. I've started my 3rd pack and still no sign of it.

Hi-
I took Micronor from my 6 week postpartum checkup until a few months after that -- my OB actually told me that it's normal to not get a period while taking it.  I didn't get mine back until Katie was 10 months, and I started supplementing with formula around 8.5 months (hadn't nursed in the night for quite awhile before that) -- basically it seems like everyone is different and AF comes back at different times for different people.

Does your OB know that you're not exclusively breastfeeding?  I know mine said when I was starting to drop feeds that I might need a different form of birth control in order for it to be effective.

I've been on Micronor and EBF since six weeks too. No sign or dear old Auntie for me, either. We're down to four feeds a day. Ooh, I wonder if I should check with my doc as to whether another form of contraception is needed. I know my pack says that if taken correctly at the same time each day, the chances of getting pregnant are 1 in 200 (if taken at varying times of the day, it's 1 in 20). I'm pretty religious about it, and assume that the BF is an extra security measure.

Thanks for replying.
I'm also religious about taking it. I have them on my bedside table so I don't forget. I have another question. Have any of you gain weight taking this pill. I gained 10lbs in 2 months. I'm heavier than I was a month after the birth of my DS  ??? or I wonder if it's because DS bfeeds less.

Nope, no weight gain for me. Just raging hormonal mood swings  :o I know they can affect individuals differently.
