what do you do when they wake early from nap--8 week old
« on: May 10, 2006, 21:24:37 pm »
I just read the Secrets of a Baby Whisperer book and have really benefitted from the adivce about how to tell when your baby is sleepy, sleep cycles, etc.  I've been trying for a few weeks to get my baby on EASY but the problem I keep running into is waking after about 40 min. from a nap.  I don't rush in--I wait to see if he'll get back to sleep but usually the answer is no, after 5 min. of crying.  Often he has a wet diaper or has to burp.  If he gets up then he's fussy, if I feed him he falls asleep at the breast, if I put him back in the bassinette with the usual naptime routine again it may take 20-30 min. to drift off again and then it's getting close to feeding time.  Often I end up taking him for a walk in the sling to get him back to sleep faster and let him finish his nap.  He's breastfed and growing and gaining fine.  Thanks for any help!

i am not sure i have any answers.. but more of the same complaints!!! our lo has been waking up after 40/45 mins.. and sometimes she falls back asleep, but more often than not, she wakes up fussy and things get thrown off!! i do the same thing.. i carry her aroud in the baby bjorn (front carrier) to get her to fall back asleep before the next feeding.. i feel like i am creating bad habits, but i don;t know what to do either! she is clearly exhausted, but not quite hungry yet.. so we would like to know what to do too.. she wants to sleep so badly, (do i let her cry hard for 5 mins? if so, what do you do then?) but on her own she can't seem to do it... any advice?
