Please help!
« on: May 20, 2006, 18:09:19 pm »
Waaaah things seem to be getting worse instead of better! We had the am nap goign well at 1.5 hrs but had trouble with pm nap, which could extend with pu/pd to 1.5hrs so depending on these, we did/did not have a catnap! HOWEVER, we r down to 45min naps again for ALL naps, why????? Just cannot understand it, DS doesnt appear to be under/over tired and isnt hungry so what other reasons could short naps have? Might sound strange be could he at 7 months have wised up to things being more fun when awake??? I mean even bedtime is a struggle now (only thing which used to be ok!) and well lets not even get into nightwakings :-\

He gets REALLY upset whenever I go near his room for nap or bedtime, as if he knows.... Please someone advice needed!

yaya!!
Have been looking out for you as we both seemed to have started posting at around teh same time...just wanting to send you some reassuring words as well.  We had it going good for Jack for about 4 days with 2 hour naps am and pm, we've just lost that in the last four days and I've decided to ride out the storm and not get myself so worked up anymore, it has been over a month of doing wake to sleep and pupd!!

So have decided to do wake to sleep if Jack wakes up from that I'm going to spend 20 mins max doing pupd and soothing...then bugger it after that I'm going to take him for a walk in his stroller or give him a car ride...need to save my own sanity instead of being cooped up his in room.

Incidently have also got a referral to go to a residential home for a few days, where qualified nurses and staff will look after Jack while I get some rest for a few days...sounds like a mental institution but by goodness looking forward to just getting some sleep. day and night...can't wai!.

Stay strong yaya, as they say in New Zealand, kia kaha.  Will look out for you again!  Irene

Thanx hun!
The retreat sounds amazing! Dont thinkw e get them here in Italy :( hmm may need to get DP or mum or whoever to do this tho! hee hee

I was doing everything to get him back to sleep too but have lost energy and also just let him get on with it now, prob not the right thing to do but have very little motivation left and as u said just take him out and hope that if he gets used to sleeping more at these set times, he will do it again at home!??! BTW do u know why on earth they sleep so much better when out and about??? I dont think itsa just the motion of the stroller and DS will carry on sleeping well after I stop and just leave him in the stroller in the garden???

will give it a shot, he's kind of dependent on it the other way too, needs to be sleepy to eat but I guess it could work if I let him doze while he eats then wake him for 5mins and then out him dpwn?
