7 mth not sleeping
« on: May 16, 2006, 16:30:32 pm »
My 7 mth boy always has been a great sleeper.  Going to bed at 7:30-8 and sleeping till 7-8am since he was 3 mths old.  Now he stills goes to bed at 7:30-8 but wakes up 1-1 1/2 hours later and then around 10:30-11 he wants a bottle and goes to bed for the night.  Then he wakes up a 9am.  We have just tried to let him cry it out but he just won't go back to sleep.  How do I get him back his schedule or at least sleep again through the night????

This is usually his schedule
7-8am wake
8 oz bottle half an hour later
cereal 1-1 1/2 hours later
10am nap (1-1 1/2 hours)

12-1pm 8oz bottle
2pm solids
2:30-3 nap for 1- 1 1/2 hours

4-5pm 8oz bottle
6pm cereal
7:30-8oz bottle then bed till morning

Maybe it is time to change the schedule.
Help

Sounds like you are doing great with him! My Ella is also just over 7 months, almost same routine as yours but she drinks slightly less formula than yours. I only have a few little suggestions that might help. The waking 1-1.5 hours after going to sleep is usually overtiredness. I find if I push Ella to a 7:30 bedtime that is what happens, the crying 1-2 hours after she goes down, she is overtired. I would maybe try pushing the bedtime back to 7pm and waking him at the same time every morning, here it is 7:30 but you could do 7, 7:30, 7:45 or 8. I picked a time that I knew she wouldn't wake up before, thus you are allowing them to be awake the same amount of time everyday. Maybe try going into the room and comfort him from a distance until he settles then leave the room, coming back only if the hard crying comes back again. How is he on solids, is he eating a good amount at dinner? When he wakes at 10:30-11pm does he finish a whole 8 oz bottle, if so you might want to up his food intake during the day but keeping his milk intake the same. My routine is as follows

7:30 am wake and bottle 6-7 ounces
9:00 am 3 tbsp rice and oatmeal, 1/4 jar fruits, 2 ounces formula
10-11:20(11:40) nap
12 bottle 5-7 ounces
12:30 finish rest of milk if didn't take 7
1:00 3/4 jar veggies
2:30-4:00 nap
4:00 bottle 7 ounces
5:30 3 tbsp rice and oatmeal, 3/4 jar veggies, 2-2.5 ounces formula
6:50 bottle 6-7 ounces
7:00 bed
Hope this helps  ;D

He eats very good with his solids.

With Cereal he eats 3 tablespoons with a tablespoon of fruit mixed in
Solids it is 1/2 jar veg and 1/2 of fruit.

Maybe I will try earlier bedtime and more food.

Thank you

I hope that might help. He is very cute. I see his b-day was the 16th, Ella was born the 10th. Is he crawling or talking yet?

He's a wonderful size, Ella too, 29 inches and 20 pounds. How much was he when he was born, she was 21.5 inches and 8.13 pounds, our little turkey  born on Thanksgiving day here in Canada.

Ella is really moving, half sliding/half crawling and getting into EVERYTHING!!! She started saying mama two days before mom's day, what a gift!
