Patting-- when do you stop doing this?
« on: May 20, 2006, 04:01:59 am »
Hello there i am a newbie.      Great site!!!      Hanna is 10 months and i have always had to help her, either patting or just resting my hand on her back (after 6 months)    I am wondering how long I should continue to help her through the 30 minute sleep cycle thing.    I put her down, and then 30 minutes later i go in and rest my hand on her back for 20 minutes.     Almost always it still works, but now at times it doesn't and she wakes up as soon as i take my hand off her back.    I am wondering if it is possible that she might be working towards dropping a nap already.      I guess what i am asking is, will there come a time, when she will grow out of this, or will i always have to help her with her naps. (has never had any problems going down at night, and usually sleeps through the night without incident)      I don't mind doing this forever if that is what it takes, but wondering if I am interfering or being a help by doing this.      I would welcome any advice on this.     I have been scouring the book on this and haven't found any info on when this is usually not an issue anymore.
