Bottle / Solids Schedule?
« on: October 03, 2013, 10:48:23 am »
Our 10 month old has suffered from refulx from birth and we had her on medication. For this reason, we fed her little and often with still being on the 4 hour bottle feeding schedule up to now, as she was only taking up to 120mls at a time. We were also trying to fit solids in around this, which wasnt easy as she wasnt always  hungry for her solids and we felt her milk was most important.

However she now seems to have grown out of her reflux and we have slowly taken her off her medication. So I was wondering if anyone would share their timings for bottles and meals? I want to try to  make sure she takes her recommended milk feeds (min 20oz?) but would like her to start eating more at meal times.

I would be grateful if anyone could please share...?

Thanks so much!

At 10 months most bottle fed babies drop to 3 bottles, so the pattern tends to be something like

Wake up - bottle
Breakfast 1-1.5 hours later
Nap
Lunch
Bottle just before the nap
Nap
Evening meal
Bedtime with bottle

The timings will depend on when she wakes and how long she naps for but that pattern seems to be a common one and was certainly what my kids did from about 9-12 months. The minimum milk they need is 20oz a day, but any dairy in food also counts towards that minimum, most babies take about 24oz a day with 3 solid meals.

HTH!
