Too much daytime sleep... The math doesn't add up
« on: June 13, 2006, 19:42:38 pm »
Hello,
I am following the EASY schedule with DD.  She is formula fed and 7 weeks old.  She can only stand to be up for 45 minutes to 1 hour of E+A.  My question is this... I have read that most babies need 15.5 hours of sleep at this age, so if her schedule looks like ths

7:00 E+A
8:00 S       (2 hour nap)
10:00 E+A
11:00 S     (2 hour nap)
1:00 pm E+A
2:00 S (2 hour nap)
4:00 pm E+A

That is already 6 hours of daytime sleep.  How do I get her to go to 8:00 or so without being overly tired?

TIA
Katy

Not all babies are the same - at 7 weeks old my LO slept more like 16 or even 17 out of 24 hours. Why not offer your baby a catnap from 5-6pm, then do a cluster feed and bath and get her to bed at 7?

My lo is 10 weeks old and still takes about four 1 1/2 - 2 hour long naps during the day and sleeps for about 10-11 hours at night (waking up for feedings of course).  Every baby is different.  Some just need more sleep than others.  Soon enought your lo will be awake more and more and you'll be wishing that he would nap longer...at least that is what everyone tells me :)

I hope you have a wonderful day.
