To all UK mums

What other cereals can I give my DD, as finger food, she has 8 teeth, but none at the back, so it has to be dissolvable, as she can't chew that well.  She is at the moment having cheerios and that is it.  She used to have weetabix, but at the moment she is refusing to be spoon fed.

Any suggestions?

Although I'm not in the UK, I do weetbix (which I believe to be very similar - a big biscuit block of wheat flakes, very bland?). My dd is into doing it all herself, so I crumble the block directly onto her tray, pour on a little milk so it's quite firm still and let her finger feed herself. Yep, it's a bit messy, but buys me some time as it takes her a while.  ;) She's also into ricies (pre soaked in a little milk) that is good for the pincer grip and also takes a while to self feed.

I' ve done the same with my DD, although messy she would eat nearly a WHOLE cake!

I'm not from the UK, but was visiting there last month and I gave my then 10month old cornflakes and she had 7 front teeth at the time. She really liked them.

Dd has weetabix too. We pour some milk on, mix it together and put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. We make it quite thick and, although she feeds herself from the spoon sometimes, most of the time its straight in there with the fingers.  ::)

Tesco do a new range of kids cereal. it's in star shape. it's reduced sugar & salt. and even has prebiotic in them.
i guess it's ok for over 1 year old.

I'm not in the UK, but...have you tried Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies?  They also dissolve in the mouth easily. I don't know what it would be called in the UK, but surely you must have something similar?

Another thing we give her, although it is not a cereal, is rice cakes.

You can break up the cake into small pieces, and it dissolves easily in the mouth.

I've also given DD Gerber Fruit or Veggie Puffs. But I don't give these to her as freely as Cheerios. They're more like a treat now that she's eating solids well.  ;)
