Should I be cutting a bottke out?
« on: June 14, 2006, 08:15:06 am »
Hi!!

I am not sure if I should be cutting a bottle out yet or to keep it how things are?
This is our routine to date.DS is 6months old and 1 day!!Has needle today :(

7am 210ml
8am cereal 60ml
11am 210ml
12noon lunch(fruit)
3pm 210ml
5.30pm 210ml
7-7.30pm 210ml

Some days he doesn't  have the full 210mls but most days he does.
He has been on cereal in the morning for 5weeks now and has had lunch for 2 weeks.
I wasn't sure when to add tea?We are going away in one month time for 5 days and would like to either start a few weeks before that or after we get back.So what would you suggest the best time to start that?

Should I be looking at cutting his bottles down to 4 bottle a day yet,or keep him with 5 still?
He has been sleeping thru the night since he was 6 weeks old and would really like to keep it that way.

If anyone has some input would really appreciate it.

Thanks
Andrea...

You could add supper and drop the 5:30 bottle. But if what you are doing right now works, I wouldn't change it. As soon as your LO gets used to taking in solids, I would try to work in supper. Maybe in a few weeks? I would aim for this schedule:

7 - Bottle
8 - Cereal
11 - Bottle
Noon - Lunch
3 - Bottle
5:30 - Solids
7-7:30 - Bottle

Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks for that.

What age would you say to add tea in?
He had his check up today and all is good with him, they said to add tea in now now but he has only been on lunch for one and half weeks and didn't want to rush adding things for him.
When would you suggest?
He weigh 9.3kgs and is 6months old,but doesn't get cranky during the day cause he is hungry alot of the time.

Thank you
Andrea...

I think I waited until 7 months to have all three meals in the day. My suggestion is to keep your current schedule and start tea once you come back from your trip. A trip is change enough, so it may be nice to have somwhat of a "normal" for him.  :)

Just an up date!!

I ended up cutting a bottle out,as he wasn't taken much of any bottles during the day only the morning and night time ones.

So yesterday we did bottles at 7,12,4,7.30  He drank everyone and didn't cry during the day with the change of time.He slept the whole night which I wasworried about fine.
He actually slept alot better during the day, then what he has in a while and he is cutting a tooth,so I was pretty happy with that.
Only had one day but will wait and see.

Thanks...

P.s I am going to wait until we get back from our trip,it is in 2 weeks to go see there Dad as he is away and with the trip and having to leave him and not see him for another 2 weeks, dont want to add to much to his plate yet.
