« on: July 03, 2006, 00:35:15 am »
I want to start addding some protein to my 7 MO's diet.   I'm thinking chicken, fish and maybe tofu?  When can I add lean beaf?

How much does she need and how often?

My Pediatrician told us not to bring in meats until 8 or 9 months.  I'm not sure how much, but its still too early to have it replace the nutrition from formula.  You ask a good question though because proteins may work differently than fruits and veggies in baby's diet.  Its probably important to not overdo/underdo it.  I am not sure what amounts are recommended.

the HVs here advise adding protein as soon as possible from 6months to make sure there is enough iron intake.  we introduced chicken, turkey and white fish first and then beef and pork at about 7 months.
