how long should the gaps between naps be (6.5 months)
« on: August 03, 2006, 12:11:02 pm »
hello,
at the moment I'm doing pu/pd to try to teach my little boy to put himself to sleep its working brilliantly but means that our shedual is now all over the place.  last night he went to bed at 7pm and woke up at 6.50 (slept through for the first time since he was 3 months) but the time he gets up varies depending on how hard the night was.  he has 3 naps with around 2 / 2.5 hours between them.  they used to last between 30mins and 45mins but since doing pu/pd 2 of them have stretched to 1.5 hours with the last been about 40 mins.

does this sound right or should he be going longer between naps?  sorry to ask but as in the past we have created problems for ourselves through accidental parenting i want to be sure I'm getting it right

thanks

At his age, 2.5 hours of awake time between naps is probably great - you'll know if it's working as well if he takes longer naps. Sounds like you're doing great.
