5 feedings enough
« on: August 09, 2006, 14:09:54 pm »
Hi! My dd is just 14 weeks today.  Last week she dropped to five feedings a day. The last few nights she seems to wake up more often and not cry, but fuss a little.  I giver her pacifier and she will go back to sleep.  She does this a few times.  I now feed her more like 6-6:00 insteasd of 7:30 (with 6 feedings.)  I thought she was ready .  Does she still need 6 feedings?  She would only nurse for 10 min. with 6 feedings and when my dh gave the bottle at night she would only take maybe 2 oz and then sleep peacefully through the night.  Now she drinks 4 oz. as her df and fusses through the night.  She also nurses for a longer time, maybe 15 min or a little more.  What should I do?
thanks Danielle

5 feedings sounds like it should be fine.  She might be fussing a little because she is not use to it yet, but if you are able to get her back down fairly easy then she is not hungry.  I am sure she will get better after a little while.

DS is at 16 weeks and we have been down to 5 feedings for a while now.  It is going well.  This is a stretch, but since we have gone to the 5 feedings I have had problems lowering my supply.  This has made ds wake up a lot during the night with gas because my ld is too fast.  Took me a while to catch on to why this was happening since I wasn't getting engorged or anything.  Thought I would trow it out there just in case.
