45 min naps to 30 min naps.. grrr
« on: August 14, 2006, 00:20:26 am »
My LO used to nap a pretty standard 45 minute nap each time (and sometimes even sleeping for 1.5 hours).... however over the last 2.5 days, his naps have been crap and only lasted 30 minutes. This morning I tried to let him cry for a little while in the hope that he would go back to sleep but no luck. What is going. These so-called naps and just making him AND me irritable.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Please don't let your LO cry it out - we'll figure it out. Can you post your normal routine?

Routine....

Wake - 7:00 am
Feed - 7:15 am
Awake until first nap which is usually at 9:00 am
Next feed about 11:00 am to 11:30 am
If so tired from crappy first nap, he may fall alseep during this feed... not encouraged though
Normally naps at around 12:00 to 12:30
Next feed about 3:00 pm
Next nap around 4:00 to 4:30 pm
Bath 6:45 pm
Bottle at 7:00 pm
Bed straight after bottle
Dream Feed at 10:15 pm

Over the last couple of weeks, his first nap had now and then extended to 1.5 hours and the others would be about 45 minutes.  Lately however, 1.5 hours seems out of the question.  Yesterday however, he had 4 naps, 1st 30 min nap, 2nd 30 min nap, 3rd 50 min nap and 4th 30 min nap.

Oh oh oh!
Getting on the bandwagon here because my (almost) seven-month old is doing the exact same thing!

Routine:
0600 - 0630 - Starts to squawk a little in her crib - she plays quite happily until I get her
0700 - BF for 10 minutes and get her ready for the day
0930 - 1000 - Down for a nap
1000 - 1045 - Wakes up crying
1100 - BF and Lunch
1330 - 1400 - Nap
1415 - 1530 - Wakes up screaming
1530 - 1600 - Bottle
1800 - Supper
1900 - Walk with mummy and daddy
1945 - Bed time bottle
2000 - Bath
2015 - Down for the count
2330 - Daddy sneaks in for a DF

I've tried W2S, shush-pat, PU/PD to get her to extend her naps. I've tried to reduce A time, lengthen A time... She sleeps perfect at night. Just resists those naps. Her room is pretty much black, I've swaddled, not swaddled, put her in her sleeping bag (we do at night and she's fine - nap time, forget it!), radio on, radio off. I'm getting to the point of resigning myself to the fact that I have a Catnap Charlie and live with it. She's happy through the rest of the day. She's a trooper in the evenings, getting squirmy when it is close to her walk. We wait for her to tell us when she is tired - she yawns. We do not let it get to the eye rubbing but sometimes, she forgets to yawn she is so excited about looking at everything.

Help too please?

Wendy

Gee we are very similar. My LO doesn't wake up screaming though... just makes enough noise to get my attention to get him up.  Yesterday we had a total freak day... his morning nap went for 2 hrs and 15 mins (three 45 min cycles).... his other two naps where the normal 40 to 45 mins... but still.... I didn't care much after that long morning nap.  Back to normal today though... two 45 min naps so far.  He is having his last nap right now which has only been going for 15 mins so far.
