Waking after 45 minutes at bedtime
« on: August 29, 2006, 10:01:11 am »
In the scheme of things I think I'm like that episode off Friends where I complain about my diamond shoes hurting me!!
It's just a bit of an odd one - my little princess has settled into a great routine having been really tough to settle during the day. She is now 6.5 months and is going to sleep more and more awake. Recently though she is going off for her bedtime sleep but is rewaking after 45 minutes - she is often not settling back down unless she is picked up, given more milk and then resettled. Occasionally we then have more problems, but she generally then sleeps til morning.

Her routine at present is:
7.30 wake up
8/8.15 Feed 5-7oz & cereal and fruit
9.30/9.45 Nap - 1 1/2 hours
11/11.15 Feed 5oz & veg & protein
1.15/1.30 Nap up to 2 hours (offered a top up - will normally only take a couple of ounces now)
3 Feed 4oz-5oz & rice & fruit
Catnap out around 5.30 for 25 minutes - though she would probably go down earlier if she was in her nursery since she is far too nosy to sleep easily when we're out
6.30 Bath and feed approx 7oz - fed from 7pm latest or before if she starts getting a bit cranky with tired signs
7.15/7.30 In bed when she pulls off bottle. Always eyes open, bit moany but very smily when she gets given her dummy

It used to be that she would be all cuddly and snoozy during the last feed, but she is increasingly just a bit cranky

She usually goes down to sleep these days with a dummy, but you often hear it come out after a couple of minutes and she'll have a bit of a moan before going off

Not always then, but quite often, she will wake up after 45 minutes. I usually leave a bit til her moaning turns to crying as she has sometimes just gone back off herself. It will take maybe 15 minutes to settle her - sometimes just by giving her the dummy or picking up for a cuddle but more often than not, more milk

Just a bit bewildered. In the past everything that has stressed me, I have persevered and she has stopped doing eventually so I'm wondering whether this is something that others have seen come and gone with their LO's???

Hi there...sorry no advise, but same problem.Dillan is 5 months, also goes to bed with dummy it falls out then he starts moaning.I normally leave the dummy out and just tap him on his back, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!This happens everytime he wakes during the night(3-4times) ???

could be time to start dropping the catnap.  you might need to move bedtime a little earlier until she's used to it.
