when to use ssh pat to re-settle
« on: September 19, 2006, 15:32:30 pm »
I've been using ssh pat for about a week now to try to teach my seven-week old daughter how to sleep on her own.  She is waking several times a night and during naps.  When she starts to stir, if I do the ssh pat, she usually settles down, but should I be waiting until she cries to help her out?  In the book Tracy talks about not interfering too soon....  Thanks for any help!

I would definately trust your instinct about when you think she needs some help, maybe try a few times to leave her settle herself if she isn't crying out.  She is still pretty young and will be needing your help for awhile yet so I say helping her resettle won;t hurt anything.
