Not really sure what is going on...
« on: September 27, 2006, 21:12:26 pm »
WE have been on a 4 hour EASY for about the past two weeks. She was going along great with the new schedule, then this week went to pot. Short naps, erratic naps, flat out P.O.ed when trying to go to bed. I'm not sure if she is over tired or under tired! Our EASY generally looks like this:

E: 6-6:20am
A: 6:30-7:30ish
S: 7:30 - 9:45-10

E: 10
A: 10:20-12
S: 12 - 2p

E: 2
A:2-4
S: 4-4:30

Bedtime 6 after BF.

Now this is idealized, it tends to vary about 30 minutes. The problem is that sometimes she switches her cat nap with her mid day nap, or gets bitten by the 45-1 hour nap monster.

I have being going with the rule that if she wakes up happy and babbling get her up, if she wakes up crying try to extend the nap. Should I continue to do that?

Also, why are her naps so erratic? Could it be teething already?  Any help would be great. Thanks!
Holly

What time is she waking in the morning? It looks like that first nap  may be happenign too soon - at her age you want 2-2.25 hours A time most likely...

We start our day at 6am (that is when I have to get her ready on the two days that I go to the office and it is easier to have every day start the same time.) She is the sleepiest in the am, and the most awake in the pm.

By letting her take too long of a nap too soon in the morning, you're letting her consolidate all her sleep overnight and early am - so it may get hard for her to take decent naps later in the day. If you're waking her at 6am, I would delay first nap until 8am. If she falls asleep at 8, I'd wake her by 9:30 and then aim for second nap at 11:30/11:45...

I try to keep her up as long as possible in the am, but she falls asleep in my arms in the morning. I will try waking her early if she falls asleep. Thanks.
