Trying to stand up instead of napping
« on: November 11, 2006, 17:51:58 pm »
DD turned 8 months old and keeps trying to stand up, she gets really excited over this and it's exciting for us too!

Lately whenever I put her down for a nap, she immediately tries to stand up. I put her down on her tummy and pat her back a little bit and give her her lovey, but as soon as I stop she's up again.. Should I stay and pat her until she's asleep? Should I leave the room and enter every time she starts crying and put her on her tummy or should I put her down as soon as she gets up?

Thanks,
Tuty

HI,
What a clever girl!!
My advise to you is that you have to be careful that this does not become a game!!  Obviously DD finds the whole thing very very enjoyable and in my experience when I went through the same thing with my DD I had to leave the room and only go in there when she starting getting very very upset.  I would leave her if she was just fussy  and 9 times out of 10 she would settle herself after a little while.   I remember a couple of times she would stay stood for about half hour ( could hear her on the monitor) but it would be more like an hour if I kept walking in and laying her down.  Everytime I went in she would get so excited!!!
Just my advise...  good luck!!
