"A" minutes of "S" minutes?
« on: December 19, 2006, 22:41:50 pm »
Hi, I am trying to figure out our schedule here...do winddown minutes and time it takes trying to get them back to a nap considered "A" time or "S" time?  Let's say I did a winddown from 9-9:45 and then she slept from 9:45-10, then I tried to get her back to sleep until 11 with no success.  How much time do I say actually was in "S"???  Naps have been horrible lately and I have been fooling around with lengthening and shortening "A" time.  I am starting to hate nap time!  It is so hard to march back in and try for another nap right after finally giving up on the last one...Thanks for your help

Hi, I am in the same predicament...I read both books, and I still am a mess with the naps! My 12 week old did have 45 minute naps, but now, his eyes spring open after 15 minutes...and this is all day! He doesn't need to burp, his diaper is clean, and he eats 6oz per feed so I seriously doubt he is hungry. Come night time, he's had about an hour an a half of sleep all day and is horrid to put to sleep at night. I can't figure if I need to cut the A time or force him to sleep more...He does however do a 7 hour night stretch once he does go down. But I too hate nap time. It seems like it should be more enjoyable!
Hope someone out there can help us!

Hi there,

'S' time is just when they are sleeping - in one of the stages of sleep. Everything else - eating/playing/winding down comes under 'A' time.

Mamoushka - why not start your own thread here, we'd love to try and help you? If you could post your routine with your lo, I'm sure we could come up with something :)
Caroline :)
