2 hr naps last week; 40 min this week.
« on: December 18, 2006, 15:24:55 pm »
We have had a rocky week in general. She has a cold, has been running a fever, teething I think and holiday parties.

but last week she did 2, 1.5-2 hour naps. This week has been 40 min. Last week I tried to extend A time, and I tried today too. But after 1.5 hours this am she was rubbing her eyes and getting fussy. So I put her down and she went down fine. Then after 40 min, she sneezed and woke up. Now she is in her crib talking to herself. Do I let her go and talk, or get her up and wait until she is tired again. Also, how do I get past this 40 min wall? W2S, or do I just figure that once she is back in rhythm after all this craziness, she will get back to her good naps?

Thanks!

I found that when my daughter was sick, naps were really wonky. Unless your lo is in full health I would not sleep train. Let them get better and gives lots of hugs and cuddles.

Also, unless she is full out crying, I would not respond. If she is just talking and not in distress, it may allow her a chance to self sooth and fall back to sleep.

Thanks for the responce. Our LOs are a lot alike. That looked like our score (on your ticker) too.

Here is a question for you, unrelated to naps. i see your kids are about 5 years apart. How did you like having them spread like that? All of our friends have them about 2 years apart, but I think we are going to wait longer. Did you plan it this way? You can PM me if you would prefer. Thanks!

HI there  :D

We absolutely planned it this way. Some would say thats too big of a gap, but we absolutely love it.

While my son is in kindergarten, I spend the morning at home with her. We go for a walk to pick  him up from school before her afternoon nap. The day works out perfectly.

He plays with her, she loves him so much. She grins ear to ear everytime he gets down on the floor to play with her.

She is in bed by 7:30 so we get some alone time with him in the evening.

He loves being 'the big brother'.

I did it even more so for my sanity. I dont handle stress well and 2 under the age of 2, well lets just say I'd be in the loony bin. Kudos to all you who can do it!  ;D

I'm placing another post here to try to move this back up the chain a little. Thanks in advance for the advice.
