Questions about Napping in crib---
« on: January 04, 2007, 22:46:57 pm »
My son is 10 weeks old, 13.5 lbs.  We have a 3.5 hr EASY schedule and he is drinking 4-5 oz of formula at a feeding.  He is having one night feeding usually somewhere between 2:30-4:00.  I am very happy that we are finally on a routine (BUT I would love for him to sleep through the night)!!!

At night he sleeps swaddled in his crib and falls asleep after the feeds.  However, he naps in various places, but not in crib.  About three weeks ago he came down with a cold (nasal conjestion).  The doctor suggested that he spend most of the time in an upright/slanted position.  At this time, I began having him take naps in his swing and bouncer.  This lasted for 10 days and I'm afraid it's become a routine.

I've tried putting him in his crib after settling him from activity time, but his eyes open right up and he does not sleep.  He will usually just lay there and amuse himself.  How long should I let this happen before picking him up and settling him again?  If I wait till he is asleep in my arms, and then put him down, he still only sleeps for approx. 15-30.  Should I do Shh/Pat?  And if so, for how long?

When you try and put him down for his naps in the cot does he cry or does he just lie their? if he doesn't cry i would just leave him to fall asleep by himself.
