11 mo old naps...how can I be flexible?
« on: January 10, 2007, 19:03:41 pm »
HI -
Just starting to get my son on a schedule (knock on wood!) and I would love to get some advice on how to maintain flexibiltiy while not having a major disruption to his day.  Right now his schedule looks like this:

6:30 - Wake and BF
8:00 - Breakfast
9:30 - Nap for 1 - 1-1/2 hr
11:00 - BF
1:00 - Lunch
2:00 - Nap for 1 - 1-1/2 hr
3:30 - BF
6:00 - Dinner
7:30 - Bath and BF
8:00 - Sleep

How do I keep this schedule but still maintain some flexibility...like if I want to get in the car and drive to somewhere that's an hour away?  I know that I could have him sleep in the car during his naptime...but what if I need or want to do it while it is NOT his naptime?  When is the best time?  I literally just got him on this schedule...so I'm excited and nervous that I will mess things up.  Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

J

If you don't want to go out during nap time go out just 11am bf then give lunch while out.

This is helpful...but what if I have (or want) to be gone all day?  For example, my MIL lives and hour and a half away.  I know that I can leave during is AM nap and he'll sleep on the way there.  But when is the best time for me to come home?  I know that I'll be there past his PM nap...so I do I just leave whenever OR should I wait until 8:00 PM when he normally goes to bed?  Any advice?
