Money is no object, what is the best pump?
« on: September 03, 2007, 04:55:32 am »
A childless friend of mine wants to buy a breast pump for her SIL.  Money is not an issue--she really wants to buy her the best electric pump.  Any recommendations?

I haven't used it myself but based on reading and reviews I'd say 'Medela In Style advance'. Retails in the US for at least $300.

I've tried a few different ones and my absolute favourite is the Medela Pump in Style, as Emma said. It's really really good.

Medela pump and style.  See if insurance will help cover.

IF you can get your hands on one...the absolute best ones are the hospital grade ones.  You will get the run around trying to obtain one.  Won't be very portable.  Can always rent.  Insurance should help cover the cost.  Sometimes you can rent to own.

I have this, loved it - worked awesome.  I felt like a cow being milked lol.

My husband has been known to make (quiet) "moo" noises when I pump!  ;D

I use the Medela Symphony, which is a hospital grade pump and is truly the best pump on the market. I rent it (part covered by insurance) because it retails for $2000US  :o. I absolutely love it and have seen a dramatic difference in my milk supply. It's actually quite small - I started on a different hospital grade pump and that thing was a beast. This one is about the size of a toaster.

I have low milk supply and started on the Pump In Style (which is excellent if you make good milk). She won't know until she has the baby, what her milk supply is like.

You said money no object!  ;)

Thanks ladies!   :-*  I passed the information on to her . . . wishing she was my SIL, LOL.  I had pointed her toward Medela already, but it was great to have a specific pump to mention.   :D
