keeping DS Awake in the pushchair PLEASE HELP
« on: January 20, 2007, 17:54:47 pm »
My DS falls asleep every morning in his pushchair on the school run about 8.30 AM. This nap would be short about 30 minutes(wakes up when we get home) As its Saturday i kept him up till 9am this morning and when i put him up for his nap he fell asleep with no fuss and slept for a whole 2 HOURS. To be honest i can't believe it. The thing is how do i keep him awake on the school run? Any ideas welcome! Get home at 9 each morning so can put him for his nap then, he must like sleeping in his cot. I have tried putting hI'm up to bed but he just cries and im soft and end up bringing him back down, I KNOW ITS BAD!

Thanks in advance Anna

I know with my ds once he is tired and in his stroller (or carseat for that matter  ;) ), well there isn't much to keep him from falling asleep. Thankfully I can transfer him (most times) to his crib without much difficulty... but that doesn't help you any!  :-\
If I sing or talk to him he will stay awake longer, but usually won't keep him awake for any long length of time  :-\

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, good luck trying to keep babes up  :)

hi Anna
how old is your lo? My dd was the same when young but gradually grew out of it as she got older and once she hit 6 months she was actually less likely to go to sleep in the pushchair as there was lots to look at! If she does fall asleep then if she wakes after 30 minutes even though she should have had a long nap there is no getting her back to sleep in her bed, no matter what I try. Sounds like your lo is just the same. If your lo is old enough I would have him sit up in the pushchair rather than lie down and make sure he has a couple of toys to keep him occupied. Also if Sophie is sleepy on a walk I stop briefly every few minutes and talk to her - just for a few seconds, to say Hi or something but it jerks her out of the glazed stare she gets when she is trying to go to sleep!
