Responding to Yawns...
« on: January 23, 2007, 18:59:33 pm »
If DS wakes after a 30-45 minute nap, and eats right away and is yawning right after that.  Is it time to go back to bed?   DS is 7 weeks and is on a loose 2.5-3 hour EASY.  Right now he is going through a bit of a growth spurt I believe, so I'm feeding on demand pretty much.
Thanks
Lyn

when my dd was tiny, every time she had a growth spurt she would just sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep.... and sleep...you get the picture! It may be that he is the same - I have read that sleeping is when they do all their growing!

I don't know about the others, but if I had put Madison down when she started yawning, She would be napping every 1.5 hours.

I found she was more alert during wake times by upping her awake time and decreasing her nap time. I know it sounds backwards but it worked for us  :)

If they are going through a growth spurt, it is quite common for them to just want to eat and sleep.

At 7 weeks, my baby would not last anything more than 20-30 of being awake lol. I am not kidding and she was an extremely sleepy baby. All she wanted to do was sleep, wake & eat, stay up for like 30mins and then sleep again. I think she did this for 3 months easily. At 3 months her max A time was 1hr...
