Cries before sleep always...
« on: February 20, 2007, 13:57:05 pm »
We've had our 6 month old daughter on the EASY routine for about a week now, slightly less.
We stopped using her dummy and stopped feeding at night, and she went through perfectly on the 3rd night.
My question is, everytime I put her in the cot (at the same nap times etc) she cries for a while. On average about 10 minutes.
Is this because she's not tired enough, or because she thinks that's how she now goes to sleep?
WIll this go away when she gets more used to the "no dummy" easy routine?
Don't want her to be sad before bedtime...

Hi Mindy

I think it could be either of the two, but more likely the "no dummy" thing - she has had it the whole six months, right? Would you post your routine. She is on four hour easy, right?

Thanks

I noticed her naps are an hour, she does sleep 12 hours on average during the night if she sleeps 7 to 7. Does she wake up happy from her naps?

Yes, she sleeps pretty much through now from 7pm til 7am. Wakes for a minute or two during the night.
She wakes happily yes...

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to help you trouble shoot - She could just be adjusting, were you on the three hour routine before or is this the first routine is established. Anyone else have sugguestions?

My little 1 is 6 months and on the 4 hour easy! He does the same, I just stay with him. His routine is much the same, although he has no catnap and dinner at 4. Sorry not much help. You could maybe try and keep her up a little longer say 5 minutes

Yes, I think that's where I go wrong. She's not tired enough. When I put her down for her 5pm nap, I held her up just slightly longer and she only cried a liiiiittle bit, so that's probably what it is. Plus a little tooth has just popped out! Just found it! The first one, so she's done well adapting to a new routine (4hour easy) while teething.

Just quick update!! Problem seems to be solved!

I kept her awake for an extra 10 minutes after bottle and bed routine. Just sat and held her on my lap and sang to her and wiggled a toy in front of her. She was calm and smiled at me. So then after 10 min I said quietly that we were going to bed, and laid her down.
She just smiled at me, and after 1 minute her eyes was "staring", so I left the room.
NO CRYING! And have heard nothing since.

So I obviously was just putting her down ever so slightly too early!
Thanks to you all.
