6 months old and no naps?!?!?!?!?!?
« on: February 20, 2007, 20:44:20 pm »
Sean has been doing really well on the EASY schedule.  He had been staying awake 2.5-3 hours between sleeping and was sleeping 10-11 hours straight at night.  But...we recently moved him from his bassinet in our room to his crib down the hall.  He is now waking up twice during the night and is refusing to take naps even though he is absolutely clawing at his eyes.  We were already having really short naps three times a day (45 minutes each) but now???  He doesn't want to sleep during the day AT ALL.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ???

I feel your pain!  We are going through this too!

I think it may be the change in environment.  It could also be a growth spurt or teething.  But I think it is a seperation anxiety, more than anything else.

How long ago did you move him into the crib and how long has this been going on?

Hugs xx

I imagine you might want to post your general routine, with feed times, when you attempt naptime etc. so that everyone has a clearer idea of what is going on.

Started him in his own crib this past Friday night (february 16th).  Routine:

8:00 wake up
8:00-8:30 eat
8:30 - 10:30 activity
10:30 - 11:15 sleep
11:30 - 12:00 eat
12:00 - 1:30 activity
1:30 - 2:15 sleep
2:15  - 2:45 eat
2:45 - 4:00 activity
4:00 - 5:00 sleep (usually the best nap of the day)
5:00 - 5:30 eat
5:30 - 6:30 activity
6:40 start with feeding cereal and have some activity with dad
7:15 - start bath, massage, give a bottle (of pumped milk, he's breast fed throughout the day)
8:00 - bedtime

He then used to sleep until 6:30am but that time started creeping earlier and earlier over the past couple of weeks -- from 6:30 to 4:30 to 2:30 back to around 5:00.  Then, we moved him to his crib and Sunday night he woke at 9:00, 9:30, 1:30, 5:30, 7:15 (for his final wake up).  Last night he was up at 1:30 and 5:30 (which is hard since I have to be at work at 8:30  :(

Oh, one more thing... we thought maybe since he is turning six months old this Saturday that maybe he was going down to two naps a day????  In that case I was trying to even extend his A time longer and was trying for a nap around 10:30 and one around 3:00.  Getting a little desperate here  :-[  What's destroying me though is the nighttime -- he was once such a perfect little angel baby with sleeping through the night and now that I'm back to work he is waking up constantly.  Taking his nightlight out of his room has helped a little because he can't see that we aren't next to him any longer.  Don't know what else to do.  Maybe he is picking up on the fact that I feel like crying every time I leave him in his room because I want him still sleeping next to me in his bassinet?  I know though that if we wait any longer to make the transition it will be even harder -- for both of us!!

HELP!!!  :'(
