do you wake after 1.5 hours in order to stay on routine?
« on: February 26, 2007, 13:16:58 pm »
I have a 45 min. napper usually, but once in a while, he'll pass out and sleep for 2 hours, as he is doing right now.  If it is his eating time, should I wake him?  OR, should I wake him in order to stay on the EASY routine?
Obviously, no mom really wants to wake a sleeping baby, but if it is better to not throw him off for the rest of the day, I would prefer that.

thanks, liana

Hi everyone,
Here is the routine I try to stick to.  We are often slightly off due to circumstances, longer naps, or weekend outings.
He is 13 weeks old...

I don't know if this is a good goal for his day naps, since he normally sleeps for 45 min. Another question I had beside the wake to feed is that my 4:00 to 6:45 are never the same. Does he need a nap in the evening before the night routine?  He hasn’t been getting one, and I am wondering if that is why he seems overtired and cries until we can walk, rock him to a calmer state.

6:45    Bath, massage, and bedtime routine starting at 6:45, usually asleep by 7:00, unless he’s overtired and it takes a long time for him to go down.

          11:00 or 12:00   Dreamfeed

Wakes to BF usually once around  3 or 4.  If he feeds at 3, he’ll often awake to BF around 5:30 and I let him.

7:00  Awakes just before 7. Bfeeds and starts his day.

To answer your question about waking to feed - I'd say, yes definitely. You should never let lo go past normal feeding times, even if they're still asleep, b/c they need the calories in the daytime - if they don't get enough, you're setting yourself up for hungry nightwakings (and skewing the rest of the day).

To answer your other questions, and to have someone more expert looking at your routine ;), I'm going to move your question to the EASY forum - I hope you don't mind :)
