help..our first wedding with LO in 2 weeks.
« on: February 26, 2007, 10:10:29 am »
Hi,
My LO is coming up to 6 months in 2 weeks, which also coincides with our first wedding with her.The wedding is at 12pm,which will be followed by the reception.Lily is quite adaptable but can get grouchy when overtired, and the reception will be at the same time as her afternoon nap..1pm.What can I do with her?Any suggestions. She's on a 4 hour routine and just started solids.Thanks.

Will she sleep in the stroller - can you go outside and push back and forth til she goes to sleep, then go back in?  Or will she sleep in your arms?

Alternatively, can you get a hotel room at the reception, and book a baby sitter, so you can enjoy the reception baby free?

Not sure how flexible she is with naps, but is there any way she can take a nap between the wedding and the reception?

hi Clare
dd went to her first wedding at 5.5 months and we had the exact same situation with her naps!
For us there was a short drive from the church to the reception. DD tended to fall asleep in the car so we decided to miss the arrival drinks and drove around for a bit so she could have a nap- admittedly it wasn't as long as normal, but helped. Then last in the day I walked up and down the grounds with the pushchair and she nodded off so I just parked her not far from where we were all standing and she had another short nap to last her till bedtime.

Thanks for advice girls.I think i'm going to just have to take her for a walk in her pram. She finds it easy to nod off in there. If I have to miss some of the reception then so be it,i'm sure people will understand. It's a family do,so dad and grandparents can help out too.Hopefully she'll nap well in the morning before the wedding.

we have a wedding next month so i sourced a hhotel room nearby and am having my DD and cousin stay there. so i can put her to bed then be back at the party in under 30minutes! its a expense that im willing ot pay for to keep my DD happy!
