Hi
DD2 is 5.5 months old and we have had a lot of sleep problems with night times and naps which seem to be getting so much better over last 2 weeks which is great. However, she still seems unable to stay up playing any longer than about an hour!! I thought before that this was due to her lack of sleep and thought now it is sorted out she would be able to extend her awake time but this hasn't happened yet, infact she woke from an hour and half nap today and did 3 massive yawns after only being up 30 mins!!
Do you think this is just catch up time and will get better or should I just bite the bullet and ignore her cues and see what happens if I keep her up longer? Its becoming a problem as she has started eating solids and we don't get enough time of A time to fit in a solid feed and a bottle because she is not hungry enough to do both in that time. Also means that we don't have time to go anywhere or do anything as she needs to go back to bed almost immediately.
She only sleeps through to around 4/5ish most days and sometimes goes back off to sleep so often she wakes in the morning following a 30-45 min nap rather than a full nights sleep - do you think this is part of the problem? She goes to bed about 6.30pm so only sleeps about 9.5-10.5 hrs solid sleep a night, if she wakes 4ish she does always goes back off for a bit but often takes about 45-60 mins to go back to sleep and if wakes about 5.30am I don't really try, just get her up and start the day (not that I want to, will be joining early wide awake club shortly).
Other problem is that it seems really hard to get her to take an afternoon nap so quite often she is up about 3-4 hrs before she goes to bed at night because she just won't go to sleep in the afternoons - I guess this might be why she wakes early?
Anyway, if anyone has any advice on any of this I would love to hear it - things have got so much better I am really happy with it all but would love it if Gracie could stay up a bit longer to be able to do more stuff with her just taking her out in pushchair bit more often etc.
thanks
