nap questions
« on: April 09, 2007, 20:32:20 pm »
My babies are almost 6 months old now (WOW)!  They are still napping 3 times a day.  They are never less than an hour, and sometimes 2 hrs.  So a typical day looks like this:
7 wake up and nurse
9 first nap
10:30 wake
11 nurse
12:30 second nap
2:30 wake
3 nurse
4 third nap
5 wake and nurse (cluster)
6:30 baths, then bed at 6:45 or 7

So I really like our routine, it's great!  But when do they go to just 2 longer naps a day?  And will it be that third nap that goes first?  They just still don't seem to be able to go more than 2 hours for awake time.  Also, is it ok if the third nap isn't just a 45 min catnap, but sometimes even more than an hour?
Thansk so much!

The third nap or cat nap generally disapears when:
They start fighting their cat nap
Their other naps start getting shorter
They start taking longer to fall asleep at naps and bedtime
They can handle an awake time of 2.5-3hrs
As for the 3rd nap lasting longer than 45mins as long as it doesn't interferre with bedtime then that should be fine.
