pillows
« on: May 02, 2007, 11:19:51 am »
at what age is it appropriate to put pillows in the cot?  My DS is 17months and sleeps brilliantly in his cot in a grobag.  Should we offer a pillow.  My worry is that in a few months time when we transition to a big boy bed he won't have slept on a pillow at all?

We changed from a grobag to a pillow & duvet (still in the cot) at 18 months, and then we transferred to a toddler bed at 2 years. At weekends we would bring Toby into bed withus for 10 minutes or so in the morning before we all got up and taught him how to pull the duvet up so he was 'snuggly' and he's been fine with a duvet ever since.
We got a cot pillow - a very flat one so there wasn't a great deal of difference from him sleeping flat in the cot, and now he's in a big boys bed he still has a very flat normal size pillow.

We just ordered a toddler pillow for DD (very small pillow - they come in cute designs) and plan to try it as soon as it comes (next week). she's never really used one before but will snuggle up sometimes on ours for a few minutes or on the couch throw pillow. She's almost 21 months.

We use a standard pillow doe DD and have since she was 10 months old.  She got a cold and it propped her up - she is hooked and stays ON her pillow at night - she truly loves it.    She is almost 18 m now and all is well.
