Hello

I have posted here previously about our little boy (4 mths) who is usually a poor napper - 30 mins tops!

He is unwell at the moment - we're not sure what it is, we think it could even be teething  :o and he is not sleeping as well as he usually does at night (down at 7pm, DF - 10pm, wakes about 4am, back to sleep until 6.30am). I lost count of the amount of times we were up to him last night.

Subsequently, he is napping a lot better during the day - 3 X 1.5 hours naps from him today already! My question is will this have upset his nap sleep cycles and will he improve on his naps once he is better?

I'm not pinning my hopes on anything and by no means am glad he is unwell! I am just interested to see if this is almost the same principle as W2S i.e. upsetting the usual sleeping patterns?

Thanks

Emma

Maybe he will get set in his ways and you can use this to get him on a routine. I've sometimes taken advantage of that...I used my lo being sick to get her to do the 2-1 nap switch :-\

I used to find that my lo, however, would revert back to her old patterns once she was done teething. (she was never sick as an infant but with teething, she would have disruptive patterns all over the place)

Keep accidental parenting in mind when you go to him and keep trying to ensure he will settle back on his own. Good luck!

hi Emma
It's always difficult to say what will happen when they get unwell. Sophie always used to sleep much more when she was teething- worn out, poor thing- but it didn't affect her nights as you describe.
Just as pp said I would ensure he still is going to sleep on his own- many fall into the trap of rocking etc to sleep when lo's are poorly, and by the time they are well again they have lost the ability to self settle. As long as this doesn't become a problem, I would go with the flow until he is well and then rejuggle his routine.
