Stopped BFing last week and child is now cranky mess

Hi, I was not sure where to post this, but it is in regards to BFing...?
Anyway, DS (17months) was only BFing first thing in the morning for the last 3 or so months and that was it.  Some days he would even refuse it.  So, one of the mornings he didn't want it last week I just stopped.  Since then he has been extremely cranky, fighting almost everything I do, not wanting me at all (only DH.)  Could this have anything to do with stopping BFing???  Is it just a coincidence??

Who's to say? However it sounds as though he was definitely pretty much finished himself and as the pp says you did incredibly long to last as long as you have. You had every right to give him the final nudge.

Perhaps he's feeling a little uncertain but hopefully he will some find his security returning - all you can do is offer lots of hugs and mummy time and he can take it if he wants.

However it could also be a complete coincidence. Or perhaps he's responding to some uncertainty that you might be projecting (i.e. worrying that it might be to do with weaning) and you may not be conscious of.

Just be confident that you've done the right thing and given him a great start. Be confident with him and continue to show sympathy and affection and if it is weaning related, time will make it easier. But it really might not be.

Thank you kacey's mum and Emma.  I appreciate the input.  I hope it is just a coincidence.  It was just sad to stop and suddenly DS no longer even wanted mommy for anything, ya know?  ****sigh****
I think he is getting better though...
