quick advice needed
« on: May 18, 2007, 10:03:48 am »
My boy ( 5 months)is a terrible napper and I'm aiming at 2 x 2 hour naps plus catnap. He's now been down since 9am, and has just woken up after 2 hours, crying, which normally means he's still tired, so i put his dummy in and he's fell back asleep. Should i leave him longer, or do i wake him as he's already had 2 hours?

perhaps try another 45min (another sleep cycle) and then wake him as any longer it'll risk disturbing the rest of the day and night's sleep. Plus I'm guessing he'll be due for a feed.
Do you have problems with naps generally?

he usually has 1 1/2 hours in the morning, but afternoon naps are about 45 Min's. But he's normally up a dozen times in the night, so i want to try to extend his naps and see if that helps the nights. He's just woke up again (nearly 3 hours now) and still took his dummy and went back to sleep. I think he's exhausted. I cant let him sleep any more though, surely?

I think any more and you might end up where he is "napping" all night and sleeping properly in the day. Although is is clearly very tired perhaps you could get him up for a while but keep his A time shorter then normal and really low key with little stimulation, to encourage another good nap this afternoon?
