3 naps at 9mths
« on: May 21, 2007, 01:39:45 am »
My lo is 9mths old at the end of this week and STILL has 3 naps. She can only stay up for 2 hours, 2.5 max if we are out (very very occassionally 3 hours but she will usually fall asleep in the car etc before it gets to 3 hours).  Her morning nap is 1.5 hours, her afternoon nap 1.5 to 2 hours and the third one is about 1 hour (though I tend to wake her up after about 30mins).  She will happily wake at 6pm and go to bed at 7pm and sleep until 7am.  Just wondering if anyone else's baby is like this?  I'm not really complaining but 2 hours A time is quite restricting in terms of outings etc as she get's cranky very quickly.

Isabella was the same but her morning nap was 45mins, pm about 1.5hrs and a catnap 45mins. She kept her catnap till 9 months and then started playing instead of sleeping.... so I pushed her A time in the afternoon a bit and gave her an earlier bedtime. I think your lo is sleeping GREAT so I really wouldn't worry about it. I know its restricting but he wont be keeping the catnap for that much longer. The latest I've heard is about 11months....

Hi,
Just wanted to say that my LO is 7.5 months and is taking 3 naps, she was taking 4 with the catnap but  dropped that with awake being 2.5 hours (which only happened at 6 months).  I know how you feel about being restricted with time out the house but it wont be for much longer.  I find that Eva is happy to be awake 3 hours if there are other little kids about but if we're at the shops forget it!

Hi,

Just had to add that my lo is 8 months and still has 3 naps as well. His A time is usually not longer than 2.5 and at this point, is yawning, rubbing his eyes and will start to fuss. I can get 2 naps of an hour or so, and the 3rd is just the 30min cap nap. Although he has been starting to refuse to go to bed before 9pm the past few days, and waking up at 5am. I think maybe it could be a sign he is wanting to drop his last nap. I guess i'll wait for a bit though cause he is also teething so that could be it too!   ::)

Mamoushka, I think if the bedtime is pushed to 9pm, thats a farily good sign that the catnap needs to be dropped.

Well she has been sleeping 13 hours at night recently which has pushed our schedule back a bit.  On a few occasions over the last week she has woken from her last nap around 3.15 so hasn't had catnap.  Unfortunately on those nights she ended up with night terrors so I guess it is safe to say that she still needs the 3 naps!
