Hi, I've been breast feeding my 23 week old son Sam up until 10 days ago.  He has been on 8oz during the day up until now, but today he had 6oz and then our feed I did an hour ago he only took 5.5oz.  Is this normal?  It may seem a silly question but this is all new territory to me.  I am just starting to wean him and he's having 1.5 tsp of baby rice after his formula once a day so don't think that is affecting it.  He slept through for the first time ever last night when I gave him a DF at 10.30 (he took 4oz) but had been having 8oz all day long.  Today as you can see he hasn't had so much so am hoping he may still sleep through!!!!

TIA

Ali

My lo would do the same thing, he would really confuse me.  He'd eat a lot and then not really want to eat.  Id say wait and see how he does tonight and try and do the dreamfeed as well.  What is the total amount he is taking in 24 hours?  CHristie

Hi Christie, based on what he has been doing, he has 4 x 8oz though he sometimes leaves a bit of these plus a further bottle in the night so, say, 34oz.  He drained the whole bottle tonight when my husband fed him so hopefully with the DF too I could possibly get another decent night's sleep - we'll have to see!!
