Hi all!

It has been a while, and I miss you! I have been working (at home) a lot lately, thank goodness, but now it's time to catch up with the message boards.

Our dd is 6 months this week, and we are still on a 3.25-3.5 hour cycle! The major reason is that we cannot get her to take more than 6 oz without spitting up in a major way (she is a reflux baby, on Zantac since 3 weeks of age).

Is this normal for other reflux babies out there? I don't want her to be frustrated by her "babyish" schedule.

Thanks!

m & z

Every baby is different.  Abby also has reflux but she was able to switch to a 4hr EASY.  If that works best for her I would stick to it.  Every so often I would just try to increase the time and see how she does.  If she doesn't tolerate it then I would go back.  They do say that smaller feeds work best for some lo's with reflux.

Andrea has given you some great advice, the only way you will know is for you to try and see how your lo tolerates it.

You could always split the feed in 2 and perhaps change her nappy / burp etc, and then offer the rest of the feed 5-10 minutes later to let her tummy settle for a bit.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Some babies with reflux do need the feeds closer together, you just have to go based on your LO. Alos, just make sure that they are adjusting the amount of meds as your LO gains weight so that she is getting the right dose!

Thank you, everyone, for your great advice. It feels good to go based upon what works for her. She is gaining fine, so I think we are on the right track.

Thank you again, from the heart. mazou.

Hi Mazou,

It is now late on the 4th June, 2 days since your post and I hope that you feel happy in whatever you decided to do with regards to stretching out your babys feeds, but with regards to reflux and feeding from my own personal experience I struggled on with it until I stumbled upon SMA Staydown, you can only get it from larger Boots stores but it is for baby's with significant reflux, and right from the first bottle I have never looked back, I just wish people would campaign for it to be bought to more stores especially supermarkets as reflux is becoming such a common thing (once mistaken for colic). Good luck  :D
