Jessica - Nicholas was born in Dec 2005, so just a bit younger than Colin - is Colin talking much yet? I'm curious whether Nicholas will be a late talker as he's got both languages. He only says Mama, Dada, cat, cow and tries to say Grandma and Pebbles (our dog) . Also, is Colin still having a bottle of milk am and pm? and what do you do when Colin is teething and NW?
At his 18 mo checkup, the doc expected that Colin would have 15 words. At first I was
thinking no way he was close to 15, but then when I actually counted I realized he had that or pretty close. So I guess he's pretty much on track but he's definitely not excelling with talking. Boys are usually slower with talking than girls so that's ok as long as they're getting there, KWIM? Plus from what I understand bilingual babies like yours may be a bit slower as well since they're learning two words for every one, essentially.
No bottles here, for a long time now actually. I was gearing up for weaning to a sippy, but one day when he was about 13 mo he totally refused it and pointed to his cup. So there it was, no more bottles.
Teething and NW...
It wasn't fun for any of us, at all. Colin got all his teeth in batches of at least two at a time, but most often 4.
Plus he's one where they go up and down before they actually come through, so teething was always a very long process. I found that Motrin did the most for him and lasted the longest. I used orajel when it was really bad, but TBH it never seemed to really do the trick. During the day, I'd offer him frozen peas or blueberries and he LOVED that, it seemed to help a lot.
