2-1 nap switch affecting sleep, awakes 6:00!
« on: June 20, 2007, 18:07:06 pm »
Please help - suggestions?
I've read the boards about switching to 2-1 nap - our dd is 14 months and has dropped the pm nap for about a month now. So we upped bedtime from 8:00 to 7:00 but now she wakes up at 6:00 - I'm certain she just won't sleep beyond 11 hours so putting her to bed earlier creates an earlier wake! ahh!

She stays awake 4 - 5 hours take nap and wakes as late as 2:30 but it's a long time until 8:00!

7:00 wake breakfast
9:00 snack/bottle - I know I need to begin weening...
11:30/12:00 lunch
12:30 nap
2:30 wake
3:00 snack - bottle...
8:00 bed

We've tried to get her down for pm nap but she just screams - and this is a child who normally goes right to sleep - been on EASY since 1 month.

We've tried limiting am nap to an hour but then she only gets an hour nap for the whole day!

She's going down at earlier bed time 7:00 without struggling but 6:00 is so early and the cycle then perpetuates the next day!

I truly think this child will sleep 10.5 -11 hours total at night - and she definatley needs more naps time as she grouchy bear in early evening...

I am in the middle of this right now, too.  Why don't you try slowly bringing the bedtime earlier, say 7:30 tonight, and see what happens.  That is 5 hours and you said she is capable of handling 5 hours?  I've also read that the EW can occur, but over several days-to weeks it works itself out (and you can bring the bedtime back to the normal time).  I guess they just have to get used to the longer A time.  I am new to this though!
