1 year old always wakes at 5:30am help please

my one year old boy has always woken for the day around 5-5:30am. he sleeps eleven hours at night ,but goes to sleep at 6:30.this really is to early for me.he is often overtired and if i put him to bed at 5:30 he still will wake at like 5 or 5:15.what can i do?

thank you so much for responding layla. ok here is his day   5:30am- up for day   6:30 am bottle, 8:30 am breakfast, 9:00 am nap(i wake him after 1 hour or a little over)  10am snack,11:30 lunch, ipm bottle and then nap for approx 90 minutes. so wakes at 2:45, then in bed asleep by6:30. what am i doing wrong here? he has never slept more than 11 hours and 15 minutes at night even if i put him to bed earlier

My 11.5 month old DS does exactly the same, even if we have been out (er very rare LOL) & get him to bed late he still wakes between 5.30 & 6am....although his sister will sleep for England & not get up til 8am.

I have decided to go with it & have put lots of toys at the end of his cot (that are attached to the cot so he can't throw them) like a fisher price aquarium & other pram toys etc....

This way, although he wakes at the same time, he is happy to play for about 45 mins before calling out for us, so at least the sun has time to rise before I am called out of my warm bed!!

You're not doing anything wrong! His day just needs to be shifted a little  .

I have also found that cutting the morning nap to 45mins helped add the hours onto night sleep but if you aren't comfortable with that.... what I would suggest (well this is what worked for me) was to add about 15mins to the morning nap & with it the afternoon nap & bedtime. He is getting the right amount of sleep overall & 11hrs at night is pretty spot on...

So I would do morning nap at 9:15 for a few days & afternoon nap about 3ish hours after that. & then in about 3 more days add another 15mins or so to the morning & afternoon nap & with it the bedtime

Jasmine at that age was doing

6ish - wakes
9:30-10:15 - morning nap (i used to wake her up)
1:30-3pm - afternoon nap
6:30ish - bedtime (she was often asleep by 7pm)

layla, ok I get what you are saying.BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN i shift a few minutes and his afternoon sleep is less time or he wakes after 30 minutes and cries. I have had this happen before.he is so tired after only three hours

Can you tell me when you've tried this? He might not have been ready for more A time then... but I didn't think that a few minutes would have made such a difference . What you can try doing is shifting the morning nap towards 9:30 & try & leave the afternoon nap where it is. I had to do this to start with as well... since she was already overtired by the morning nap, the A time in the afternoon  was at 3hrs & then slowly I pushed her A time in the afternoon.
