Hi, my 16 month old DS has recently dropped his morning nap. It was getting to the stage where he would finally got to sleep about 10am, sleep for about 40 mins and then refuse another nap all day. I cut out his morning nap and he now has about 2 to 2 1/2 hours from 1pm every day. However, this dropping of the morning nap seems to have coincided with a switch from a 7am wake up to a 6am wake up. Now this is not a problem per se, but he's tired when he wakes up, but if he sleeps in the morning he only sleeps for 40 mins then refuses to sleep again in the day. Ideally I'd like to push his wake up to 7am but have no clue how to go about it!
His routine (he's been an EASY baby since about 6 weeks!) is:
6am - wake up and milk (sometimes 5 oz sometimes one sip!)
8am - breakfast
10am - small snack
12 noon - lunch
1pm - nap usually for 2 - 2 1/2 hours
3 ish (or when he wakes) small snack
5pm - tea
He also has plenty of water throughout the day.
6.15 - start wind down with some naked run around time upstairs followed by bath and milk. Bizarrely (sp?) the sleep issues have also coincided with a massive increase in milk intake here - usually 15-18 oz but has been as high as 24oz
(any clues?!)
The milk thing takes a while just because he takes so much so he actually falls asleep between 7.30 and 8.
Is this too late do you think? Should I start wind down earlier to take account of that so he's asleep earlier - do you think that would help?
Any ideas much appreciated.
