Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.  My dd is almost 8 months and is exclusively bf, she hasn't had a bottle.  She does drink very well from a sippy (straw) cup.  But water only.  I am trying to start to slowly wean her and replace one of her bf with formula from sippy cup.  She will take one or two sips and thats it.  I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.  I weaned my older dd this way, but she was not picky and easily went to formula in sippy.  My youngest dd is picky about things so not sure what the best way to go about it is.

Thanks in advance.

I have heard somewhere on the boards that it is a good idea to mix Breastmilk and formula together, and then gradually put more formula in. For example, 5ozs EBM and 1oz formula, then 4oz EBM and 2 ounces formula and so on and on. This will help your DD as you will be gradually weaning her, they taste very different. HTH a little xxxx

I agree with pp.MAybe you can start with just breastmilk and then add on the fromula.  i  realized all kids are diferent when i had ds 2.  It makes it harder to figure out, but Im sure you will get there....let us know how we can help. Christie

Thank you both for your reply.  I haven't been pumping since dd was really little, as she wouldn't take EBM from a bottle.  She will take some sips from the cup with the formula...maybe it just takes some getting use to and I just need to keep introducing it to her?  Do all formulas taste pretty much the same?  I am wondering if I should be trying different brands?  Also I have been giving it to her cold...as that is how I give her water...wonder if I should warm it?  I guess I have some things to try out to see...I was just wondering if anyone had a similar issues and how they got around it.

Thanks so much
