well all but yesterday he had catnaps as i made sure if i had to go out i did it around that point so he would sleep in the car on the way home.  If he did, great, if not bed at 6.  So 2 days in a row he had a catnap about 30 min max but he would have to be up atleast 3 hrs before bed otherwise he would just roll, talk, etc in bed, which a 8:30-9 bedtime is too late and that is what was happening, so..... back to square one.
As he still gets up at 6-7 am no matter what.  Yesterday he didn't get up till 7 ( YAHOO) and then had a nap at 10 ( almost a 2h nap yet) and 3 ( 45 min nap), by 6pm at dinner he was rubbing his eyes , getting fussy adn not wanting to eat so i got him ready for bed and he was sleeping at 6:37 and slept till 6:30am. so it's just one day at a time as naps seem to be at different times.  One day he can do 3 hrs and the next barely 2-2.5hrs.  then one nap will be 45 min and the next will be almost 2 hrs?????  i give up.....

Try & not let him take a 2hr nap in the morning cause he probably wont sleep so well in the pm.

i really have never been one to wake him up from a nap, unless he's in teh car, well then it's a given.  I feel that if he is sleeping that long he needs it and i know that in my case if i wake him he will be very fussy and cranky and will still take a short nap in p.m backfiring on me!  There have been times ( dr appt, etc ) that i have had to wake him and that is what has happened.

I understand. If you aren't comfortable with waking from naps, you don't have to... but then he probably won't have a long pm nap & will be overtired by bedtime. I on the other hand have had to wake Jasmine up from her morning nap starting around 9 months so that she would sleep better in the afternoon & not be so tired/cranky by bedtime

Hey!  Just wanted to let you know that we are going thru the same thing!  My LO is 9.5 months and has been going to bed at 6pm alot lately!  I hate doing it because then she wakes up at 5:30am!  And the whole process starts over again!  So then she is ready for her first nap by 8 or 8:30.  She usually sleeps 1 hr to 1.5 hours, and then I struggle to keep her up 3 hrs, so she is down again at 12:30/1:00 and up by 2 or 2:30 if I am lucky.  I am thinking that her "A" time should be longer at this age??  We haven't had a night waking, thank goodness, but the early morning or taking a toll on me.  Let me know how everything works out :)
