bad afternoon nap

Hi! I was wondering if anyone can advise on the bad afternoon napping. I have a 3 week old and started easy from birth but only last week it all started to fit into place. She has been a good girl but barely sleeps in the afternoon.Takes ages to burp and settle her. We are on 3 hour EASY - wake up at 6am and go to bed at about 7pm. After morning feeds at 6 and 9 she falls asleep wonderfully but straight after a feed. The feed though can take up to an hour with all burping. Then it is time to sleep. But she has trouble sleeping afer 12pm feed before 3pm feed. She can settle at 2 or 2.30 only being woken up at 3. After a feed at 3pm I try to settle her straight to sleep till 5pm. Because at 5 we start the wind down routine( feed-bath-feed) What shall I do with these afternoon naps. How can I make her sleep for longer then? Am I doing something wrong?

  I doubt you are doing anything wrong at all.  Your lo is still adjusting to being outside the womb, and doesn't "know" what she is supposed to be doing   I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially if she is easy to put down at night after a feed.  Keep up your hard work and as she gets older things will probably fall into place more and more easily.  It wasn't till my dd was about 8 weeks that we really had a predictable routine going.  You're doing a great job, don't doubt yourself!  You're giving your sweet baby predictability and comfort by working on a good routine, and you should be proud you're doing so well already with such a young baby!  Good luck, and keep posting, this is a fabulous web site with some wonderful people with great experience!
