Anyone's baby NOT grow out of the 45 minute naps??
« on: August 03, 2007, 18:08:06 pm »
Zoey started taking 45 minute naps when she was a few months old.  She is now 10.5 months and STILL takes 45 minute naps!  For a few months, she was taking a 1.5 hour morning nap, but now she seems to be sleeping longer at night and is back to 45 minute naps for both naps.  It's frustrating because I would like a nap now that I am pregnant and 45 minutes is just not long enough for me to even fall asleep!!

Will this continue when she switches to one nap?!?!?

Ds more or less stayed with the 45-minute naps (sometimes 1.25 in the am) until we switched to one nap at 12 months old.  Then he slept 2 hours or more!  ;D  We still get about 1.5 hours now.  Here's hoping you get longer naps before the new baby comes!  :)

Same as the previous poster. Until we went to one nap, my ds almost always had short naps, then after we went to one nap they were around 2 hours sometimes 3 hours. Now that he's almost 3 years old, he sleeps about an hour an a half every day.
There's hope!

Same thing here, ds is 18mo and on a good day he sleeps two hours but it is usually 1 hour approx.  He sleeps 12 hours at night and is pretty happy though so I don't complain.

What time are you attempting the naps?

well, she usually wakes around 7:30 and I put her down around 10am.  She will sleep for 45 minutes and then I put her for her afternoon nap around 2:30 or 3:00.  I've been making the afternoon one later because it is ALWAYS 45 minutes no matter what and if it is later she is less tired by bedtime at least.

You "should" be able to extend her morning A time to 3hrs at least the 3.5 before 2nd nap & 3.5ish before bedtime. So something like this:

7:30 - wakes up
10:30 - morning nap
11:15 - wakes from nap
2:15-2:45 - afternoon nap
3:45-4ish - afternoon nap ends
7.30ish - bedtime

Its actually ok that her morning nap is only 45mins cause at this age they tend to need a shorter morning nap to have a longer one but try the afternoon nap is the one thats staying so "try" to extend it. Have you thought about w2s?
