How old did you use a blanket for your lo?
« on: August 02, 2007, 16:17:19 pm »
I was wondering how others introduced a blanket at bedtime. I mean that you covered your lo at bedtime with say his toddler blanket or the sheet. I wanted to start this but I was a little unsure. I thought maybe he would get stuck to easily when he needed something. we are working on our NW. Do you think I should wait till NW are gone( I thought maybe it would help) Well looking forward to your responses.
smile today you woke up and you have a beautiful lo

Oh, wow!  Mine have had blankets from day 1 :o  I always tucked them in to the bottom of the bed and layed them with their feet at the bottom of the bed so they couldn't slide down under.  Once they started getting mobile I didn't worry so much as they were able to move around anyway..  At 3.5 and 1.5 they never stay under them anyway so we are in sleeping bags but they both looove their blankets!

The only time they stay under them is when they are too exhausted to move ::) I cover them up when I go to bed and then dh covers them when he gets home from work, then I recover them if I getup to Liam and so it goes on.....

My lo's got knit blankets that my mom's BF made...with really large holes (as I was worried about SIDS too) and TBH I hadn't heard of Grobags at the time of my DS's birth..(which are AWESOME)...so my DD just uses her knit blanket or a small receiving blanket. DS uses a Fleece. He started at about 18 months. It was a gift and became his "lovey"....It's the one thing we take anywhere we might be spending the night....

we used to swaddle brandon when he was tiny, then when he got to be about 3 months old we started putting him in a sleep sack because he would wiggle out of the blanket. then when he started turning over, about 6 months old, we gave him a blanket that was silky on one side and soft like velvet on the other. after he found that blanket, we lovingly called it his silky, he couldn't be without it. he is so cute, even to this day, he holds that silky with one hand and sucks his two fingers on his other hand. just like linus in the charlie brown comics!
